Antimatter Comments

Antimatter:  The attached references show some of the antimatter propulsion ideas.  Hope they help.  Typically, we don’t talk too much about antimatter for any near term vehicles, as the radiation from such reactions (in a BIG spacecraft) is deadly to humans.

  1. Antimatter is the ultimate form of energy storage. It has around 10 billion more energy per kilogram than chemical energy like high explosives. But it reacts with everything so is hard to store.

    It is also difficult to make. It will alwaystake more energy to make antimatter than you get out of the release. Because it is so expensive, we designed an Antimatter Sail that could get to the nearest star in 40 years using 17 milligrams of antihydrogen.
