Warp Drive

So, many of you know how to travel faster than the speed of light, all you have to do is get a warp drive off the U.S.S Enterprise and your set. But can you actually make a warp drive, and would it allow you to travel at there speed of light? Theoretically yes, the idea is to expand space behind the ship, and contract it in front, so, the ship wouldn’t be moving at light speed inside the bubble, but space would be moving so fast that outside they would be. Warp drives of this type are also known as Alcubierre drives, proposed by Mexican physicist Miguel Alcubierre in 1994.

It would use something known as negative mass to warp space. Negative mass is like normal mass, only it has a negative mass. Because of this fact it would push away thing instead of pulling them closer.  However it is debated whether negative mass actually exists, and even if it does, we also don’t know whether you would then move at the speed of light. The problem with all of this is that it is so theoretical we really have no idea what is right.
